About Me

Getting around to writing has been such a challenge. Though I didn’t intend to stop blogging, I just couldn’t find the time. Late September and October are always filled with trips to the pumpkin patch, sewing costumes for the kids and preparing for the cold weather to come. This year there was a lot of exciting playoff baseball to watch and then of course the World Series – Way to go Cards! Luckily, we always have to eat, so I have a computer filled with photos of food ready to be blogged! In the meantime, here is a photo of our witch, lion and our niece as Dorothy (whose costume I did not make).

I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a blog for a few months now. I’ve been taking photos while cooking and baking (thank you iphone) and conceptualizing what my blog would be. I’ve also noticed a lot of blogs and local small businesses lately having anniversaries or birthdays. I’m a little stymied each time I see one of these birthdays or anniversaries because I have a small business with my sister, but I have no idea what we might consider the birth date of our business to be. As Clever Hands Press, we create custom correspondence (invites, announcements, notecards, etc.) and our business has been like the snowball that rolls down a hill getting bigger and bigger. It really started on its own and while we might have formalized our process in the form of tax id’s and the like, I’d say our business has had a birth-few-years instead of a birth date.

Now my blog? Well, my blog will have a birth date and so that I can’t possibly forget it or neglect to acknowledge it, my blog is being born on my birthday. Today, I am 30.

What you’ll find on gfnoms.com are recipes from our kitchen, some snapshots of our life in photo and story format, an ongoing list of my favorite products & stores, and some background on why my food blog is gf. Many of the foods I make are gluten-free because they are naturally gluten-free – so the recipes aren’t just for gf-seekers. I do make gf baked goods and other items that are a gf substitute for the “real thing”; because I, like others, have my list of things I am desperately trying to recreate. {Of note, my food is only free of gluten.}

Hopefully you can turn to gfnoms.com for some meal ideas, because who doesn’t have a tough time thinking up what to make every day?! The majority of my recipes are from books, blogs or magazines. I usually put my own spin on things and welcome you to do the same. I’ll always give credit where credit is due and I encourage you to explore the books and blogs that I’ve found to be so informative and influential.
